IBERSCREEN

IBERSCREEN is an initiative that brings Spanish Cinema to Ireland
Spanish Film Festival Ireland (SFFI)

It’s a place to discover amazing stories, meet the people behind the films, and celebrate the energy of Spanish-speaking cinema.

The festival creates opportunities for filmmakers, producers, distributors, and sales agents to connect, share ideas, and explore future collaborations between Ireland and the Spanish-speaking world.

Beyond the ordinary

SFFI – Spanish Film Festival Ireland is the official Spanish Film Festival in Ireland.

The festival celebrates contemporary Spanish cinema through collaboration with the Instituto Cervantes, other Irish film festivals, and its main annual edition, which takes place at the end of January.

All films are presented by the film’s director or a member of the creative team to hold a Q&A

Alongside this, SFFI is committed to involving young people within the festival by introducing an annual poster competition and a Young Jury Award, giving them a meaningful voice while engaging with cinema in a real and professional context.

We also invite younger audiences to join us for special family screenings, featuring a kids’ film workshop and a fun, relaxed screening with affordable tickets and film bingo making the festival a welcoming space for all ages.

A Bridge for Co-Production

SFFI makes a big effort to create a genuine bridge between Ireland and the Spanish-speaking world through  our collaboration with ICAA, ACE, Film Basque Country, Buenos Aires Film Commission, INCAA, FIPCA, Screen Ireland, WRAP Fund, and Screen Producers Ireland.

We also hold IFFS Irish Film Festival Spain as part of IFI international. This event makes the our cultural bridge stronger allowing more opportunities to network between the two countries.

Through these collaborations, IBERSCREEN becomes the ideal meeting point where creative relationships are built with a long-term vision.

Minority Languages

SFFI selects films in minority languages because they reflect communities that are often underrepresented in cinema. Including these films helps protect linguistic diversity and ensures that different voices are seen and heard on screen.

Co-Production

At SFFI and IFFS, we believe great stories grow through collaboration. This year, we’re creating a space for production companies seeking co-production partners across Ireland, Spain, and Latin America to connect. Whether you’re looking for creative allies, funding opportunities, or regional expertise, IBERSCREEN provide the perfect space to spark new partnerships and bring  projects to life.

Festival Funding

IBERSCREEN collaborates with official international festivals and industry partners to help filmmakers bring their visions to the world. Through these partnerships, we strengthen the creative ecosystem by helping festivals access funding opportunities and distribution companies, while offering independent filmmakers direct access to festivals and audiences across our regions fostering connection, growth, and shared success.

SFFI

The Spanish Film Festival Ireland is a celebration of the cultural diversity and cinematic artistry of Spanish speaking countries, providing a unique platform for audiences in Ireland to experience films from these regions.

Its very successful first edition took place in Dublin in April 2025. The festival is now relocated to Galway (UNESCO city of film).

The festival brings together filmmakers, audiences, and industry professionals to foster cultural exchange, inspire dialogue, and strengthen connections between Ireland and Spain.
